Ski mountaineering Course

This is for recreational backcountry skiers who want to become ski mountaineers. Since these courses take place in the Washington Cascades we will heavily focus on skiing on glaciers and skiing steep terrain. 

To be successful on this climb you need to be comfortable doing a 4000 ft elevation gain day and 4000 ft descent. 

You need to be able to comfortably ski black to double black diamonds at the resort. In addition one must have some form of backcountry ski experience. If you have no backcountry ski experience please sign up for an intro to backcountry skiing day before this program.

During the program we will spend time dialing you in with steep skiing technique, route founding, navigation, rope team travel, crevasse rescue, avalanche awareness, snow anchors, belayed skiing, rappelling, and many more. This course has 2 course days and is followed by a day putting the skills to use on an objective in the mountains. 

This will prepare you for skiing the glaciated peaks of the cascades. Also, this will help you to become a great partner for your friends when skiing in the mountains.
