OVERVIEW
This route entails climbing and descending the Easton Glacier. It is comprised of 7000 ft of glaciated fall line skiing. The max angle is about 35 degrees coming down what is known as the Roman Wall. During our 3 day program you will spend one day working on all the ski mountaineering techniques and finding beautiful powder runs to sink your teeth into. Mt. Baker is a beautiful summit and one of the greatest moderate glaciated ski descents in the country.
3 Day Trip Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive in Sedro Wooley, WA for breakfast and gear check. Drive to trailhead and ascend to camp.
- Day 2: Work on ski mountaineering skills including snow anchors, rope team travel, when to use the rope, crevasse rescue, steep skiing techniques, and many more. Also, we will ski some powder laps near camp.
- Day 3: Ascend to the summit and drop in for 7,000 vertical feet of fall line descent. After packing up camp we will ski back to the car.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
This is for people who want to take their skiing to the next level. This is a great first experience skiing from a high glaciated peak.
To be successful at this climb you need to be able to carry a 40 lbs in your backpack while maintaining 1000 vertical feet an hour of elevation gain. You need to have the mental fortitude and fitness for a 8 hour summit day.
You need to be able to comfortably ski black to double black diamonds at the resort. In addition one must have some form of backcountry ski experience. If you have no backcountry ski experience please sign up for an intro to backcountry skiing day before this program.
During the 3 day program we will spend time dialing you in with winter camping skills, steep skiing technique, route founding, navigation, rope team travel, crevasse rescue, avalanche awareness, snow anchors, and many more. The 2nd day of the program is a course day and we will spend all day working on ski mountaineering skills.
This will prepare you for skiing the large glaciers of the world. Also this will help you to become a great partner for your friends when skiing in the mountains.
