Are you ready to launch into more technical alpine climbs? This course is designed for people with glacier experience who want to take their skills to the next level. During this program we go deeper into the skillset necessary to climb routes where you are using your hands and feet to ascend. This course focuses on complex mountain climbs that involve glaciers, rock climbing, ice climbing, and steep snow climbing. During this course we will make a summit attempt on the Fisher Chimneys Mt. Shuksan.

This is for people who have climbed glaciated routes and want to learn techniques for steeper more technical climbs and more complex glacier challenges.

To be successful at this climb you need to be able to carry a 40-50 lbs in your backpack while maintaining 1000 vertical feet an hour of elevation gain. You need to have the mental fortitude and fitness for a 12 hour summit day.

Your technical climbing skill should consist of basic understanding and ability to perform crevasse rescue, basic navigational skills, basic snow climbing skills, knowledge of self arrest, and an understanding of climbing systems.

During this course you will learn how to navigate complex glaciated terrain, whiteout navigation, rappelling, lead belaying, 1 to 1 crevasse rescue, rock climbing techniques, ice climbing technique, rock anchors, placing rock protection, and many more.

This course will prepare you for more complex glacier climbs in the cascades and across the world. After this course one should leave with the skillset to climb routes like the Kautz Glacier on Mt. Rainier, Fisher Chimneys on Mt. Shuksan, The Matterhorn, and much more.
